August Reporting Back

I was really disappointed that the new Cabinet Member for Transport at the County Council failed to make a decision on the Burford HGV scheme which is currently in the trial stage. The scheme will now run until early 2022 when a full decision is expected to be made. Despite the many complaints from residents and traffic monitoring which clearly showed displacement is taking place, Cllr Duncan Enright has decided that more monitoring needs to take place. What will be gained from doing this no one seems to know but this is just more dither and delay.

I recently received a scam text which takes you to a very realistic NHS website and ultimately wants to charge you for a PCR test.

A reminder that you will never be asked to pay for tests in this way and tests are available via the official government website: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Please don’t fall for these sickening scammers.

The local Thames Valley Police team have had reports of some worrying anti social behaviour in North Leigh. Young teenagers have been seen worrying horses in fields behind Green Lane towards the church. The youths have been seen throwing stones and trying to spook the horses, also leaving gates open for livestock to get out of secure fields. This behaviour could cause injury or suffering to livestock or themselves.

The neighbourhood team have been conducting extra patrols in the area.

If people are seen worrying livestock please report this to the police.

Some good news for new residents living on Dovecote Park in Minster Lovell as I’ve finally heard back from Bovis Homes contractors. Work on the site entrance and footpath linking to Upper Crescent will begin from the 6th September and last for about 3 weeks.

There will be temporary traffic lights in use whilst work takes place so expect some minor delays.

The law on self-isolation in England has now changed.

Close contacts of positive COVID19 cases will no longer need to self- isolate if they are either:

- double jabbed

- under 18

Instead you should take a free PCR test.

For more information, including how to get a free PCR test, visit the NHS website here.

Following a road traffic collision on the Brize Norton Road some time ago the Parish Council in Minster Lovell have now arranged via their insurance company for the removal of the bus stop and to repair the footpath.

This work is expected to start at the end of this month and should be done by the 7th September.

It was great to be able to enjoy live music again especially over the Bank Holiday weekend. Well done to the Minster Lovell Beer Festival & Village Day organisers for holding another great event. It was good to see people enjoying themselves again in a safe environment.

A huge congratulations to Freeland Flames Cycling Club who successfully cycled from Oxford to Brighton raising money for the British Heart Foundation, Bridewell Gardens Mental Health Recovery and Oxfordshire Mind. They managed to raise £8,280 which is simply incredible - well done guys!
