Oxfordshire County Council’s latest Movement and Place Plan for West Oxfordshire openly suggests:

❌ Removing free parking
❌ Reducing parking spaces
❌ Relocating car parks

These proposals threaten our market towns, local businesses and rural communities and we need your help to send County Hall a message.

Unlike Oxford, many residents across West Oxfordshire rely on their cars every single day due to limited public transport options. Free and accessible parking is essential for shoppers, workers, carers, tradespeople, families and older residents.

We are already seeing anti-motorist policies spread beyond Oxford, including parking charges introduced in Woodstock and continued pressure to build on car parks like Woodford Way in Witney.

Now we must send a clear message: West Oxfordshire does NOT support attacks on free parking or policies that make it harder for people to access our towns and villages.

So please sign the petition today to:

✅ Protect free parking
✅ Support local businesses and high streets
✅ Defend our rural communities
✅ Stop anti-car policies creeping into West Oxfordshire

It is vital that rural voices are heard clearly during this consultation process and that Oxford-centric transport policies are not imposed on West Oxfordshire communities without proper consideration of the realities of rural life.

The consultation has now closed by myself and fellow Conservative councillors have made strong representations.

Together, we can stand up for common sense and protect the future of our market towns. Local Conservative councillors will continue to campaign against these measures and continue to look at options to prevent any changes from going ahead.
