About Cllr Liam Walker
My name is Liam Walker, and I am proud to serve as the Oxfordshire County Councillor for the Hanborough & Hailey Division and the West Oxfordshire District Councillor for the Hailey, Minster Lovell & Leafield ward. I was first elected to Oxfordshire County Council in 2017 and have since been re-elected to the County Council in 2021, 2025, and elected to WODC in 2023, meaning I can continue to represent local residents and champion the issues that matter most to our communities.
Alongside my local representative roles, I am the Leader of the Conservative Group at Oxfordshire County Council, where I also lead the Oxfordshire Alliance Group, bringing together Conservative and Independent councillors to provide a strong and constructive opposition and to champion common-sense policies for residents across the county. I also serve as the Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group at West Oxfordshire District Council, working with colleagues to hold the administration to account and advocate for local communities.
At Oxfordshire County Council, my division includes the parishes of Freeland, Hailey, Hanborough and North Leigh, while at West Oxfordshire District Council I represent Minster Lovell, Hailey, Crawley, Ramsden and Leafield.
I grew up in the village of Minster Lovell, where my interest in public service began at an early age. At just 17 years old, I attended my first Parish Council meeting a decision that may not have been typical for someone my age, but reflected my passion for the place I called home and my desire to make a difference.
Working alongside other young people in the village, we successfully campaigned for the creation of BMX jumps at the bottom of Ripley Avenue, giving local children and teenagers a positive place to enjoy the outdoors. I’m delighted that many years later those jumps are still being used, and they remain a reminder of what can be achieved when communities come together.
That early experience inspired my involvement in local politics, and since then I have remained committed to improving the places where we live. Whether it is supporting local organisations and volunteers, campaigning for better infrastructure and public services, organising community clean-up events, or speaking up for residents at County Hall and the District Council, I believe that local representation should be visible, accessible and action-focused.
I am passionate about protecting the character of our villages while ensuring they have the investment and opportunities needed to thrive. By listening to residents and working collaboratively with parish councils, community groups and local organisations, I strive to deliver practical solutions and positive outcomes for everyone across West Oxfordshire.
