New Councillor delighted with election result


The new County Councillor for the Hanborough and Minster Lovell Division on Oxfordshire County Council says he is "delighted with the election result" as he safely beat Labour and the Liberal Democrats to secure a victory in Thursdays local election.

Liam Walker, who grew up in the village of Minster Lovell and now represents the village along with 7 other villages on the County Council, stormed to victory securing 1,814 votes and 52% of the vote in Thursdays election.

Liam said, "I am delighted with the election result and it really is an honour to be elected the new County Councillor. We have lots of work to do including improving our roads, making our villages safer and improving our crucial bus services. I'm really looking forward to this role and I want to thank everyone who backed me in this election. I hope we can all work together to deliver real change for our community."

Labour got 812 votes and only just managed to beat the Liberal Democrats who got 727 votes and the Green Party trailing in 4th place with just 159 votes. Turnout for the Hanborough and Minster Lovell Division was 43% with a total of 3,512 votes cast.
