No solution found for bus service

Efforts to find a solution to the removal of the 11 bus service have now been thrown into doubt after a community transport provider have announced they can't support taking on the service. In March this year Stagecoach Oxfordshire announced it would be removing its No 11 bus service which currently runs from Witney to Oxford via North Leigh, Freeland, Church Hanborough and Eynsham. Stagecoach had planned to remove the bus from operation at the end of April but after negotiat

Platform extension at Hanborough

Network Rail have announced plans for platform extensions along the Cotswold Line due to start taking place from November at stations including Charlbury, Evesham, Hanborough and Moreton-in-Marsh. This will mean that Great Western Railway (GWR) who operate along the Cotswold Line will be able to open more doors on their ten carriage trains. These improvements will help to make it easier for customers to get on and off the new trains and help to improve reliability with the se

Station improvements on track

Great Western Railway have submitted plans to improve Hanborough Station. A proposal, subject to final costs, is for a new ticket office, a waiting room and a toilet. GWR are also looking to house a small retail outlet in the building. This would be a huge improvement as the station currently doesn't have any facilities at all. The modular building was previously used at Abbey Wood station on the North Kent line but it became redundant with the opening of the new Crossrail st

Residents, parents and Bartholomew School in West Oxfordshire have worked with Oxfordshire County Council to improve school transport arrangements between Long Hanborough and Bartholomew School. New speed limit for Church Road in Long Hanborough

Motorists travelling through Long Hanborough in West Oxfordshire will be subject to new speed limits in response to a new development nearby. Oxfordshire County Council recently consulted on plans to extend southwards the existing 30mph speed limit on Church Road and to introduce a 40mph speed limit in place of the existing national speed limit between Long Hanborough and Church Hanborough. As well as the speed limit change, the developer will pay for the relocation of the ex

Joined up thinking on Hanborough Station

This evening I had a really useful meeting with Witney MP, Robert Courts to raise the issue of the need to improve Hanborough train line and the station. The busy station has seen passenger numbers continue to increase with over 271,000 passengers using the station from 2015-16. The use of the station has doubled in the last 4 years and trebled in the last 8 years with an increase of 14% since 2014-15. I recently joined local councillors, Great Western Railway and Robert Cour

Conservative honoured to be selected as candidate

I am honoured to have tonight been selected by local members to be the Conservative Candidate for the Hanborough and Minster Lovell division for next years County Council Election. Growing up in the village of Minster Lovell I attended my first Parish Council Meeting at the young age of 17. Some may say this isn’t perhaps the normal behaviour of a 17 year old but I guess when it comes to my community I was pretty proud of the village I lived in. Joining forces with other youn
